First, each piece is hand-blown at a workshop in Mexico by a talented artist. The artisan heats the glass until it is molten, then inflates it using a blowpipe. The heated glass is manipulated to create the desired shape, then cooled.
After the glass is blown, another artisan decorates the piece by hand by carving traditional Mexican designs. Using delicate tools, the artisan scratches away tiny pieces of the glass to create the intricate pattern. Where the artisan has etched the glass there remains a translucent, frosted-glass quality.
By promoting traditional Mexican art forms, Rose Ann Hall Designs provides income and an outlet for expression to individuals with few other opportunities. Rose Ann Hall Designs takes great pride in the uniqueness of its artisans and its products.
The culture of Mexico is one of the richest and most ancient in the western hemisphere. Its cultural, geographical and historical wealth is palpable and it can be appreciated through its architecture and pyramids, and traditions. Most of Mexico’s art is still created through processes that have not changed since the Aztec civilization. Clay pottery, vibrant designs, embroidered cotton garments, wool shawls and outer garments with angular designs and colorful baskets and rugs are some of the common items associated with Mexican art.
