The Database Manager is a highly motivated, systems-oriented individual who is passionate about leveraging data to advance our organization’s work in fair trade and social justice. Responsibilities include overseeing implementation of NetSuite ERP software to meet diverse needs of teams across the organization, training staff on use of the database, and establishing best practices for data hygiene and security.


  • Identify and assess database needs of individual teams (including but not limited to: warehouse, inventory, sales, development, artisans) and their intersections
  • Work closely with external implementation team during build-out of NetSuite ERP
  • Evaluate database design, features and lead implementation on changes on an ongoing basis
  • Assess current and projected database performance, and recommend changes and enhancements
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to data security and integrity including restoration policies, procedures, and controls
  • Develop, implement, and monitor access policies, limiting ERP access on a need-related basis
  • Draft training documentation and guidelines for end users
  • Document processes and develop standards of operation when handling and archiving data
  • Gather, create, and document current and future business process flows while seeking ways to improvise current systems and user processes with best practices, as well as ensuring scalability by envisioning planned future use of the system. Focus should be on user needs, user experience, business needs, and objectives and solutions should support and increase the business
  • Resolve data conflicts for matters such as naming conventions, data privacy, and data ownership
  • Coordinate and oversee the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures
  • Coordinate projects and enhancement requests on data entry, data management, and data hygiene
  • Lead on reporting and data visualization for teams
  • Oversee the ongoing auditing and maintenance of data cleanliness and accuracy
  • Provide general support of users, including gift adjustments, investigation of data, general report requests, duplicate merges, and data imports


  • Passion and interest in fair trade and women’s rights
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including project management and ERP solution management, NetSuite ERP experience required
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills managing multiple deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and planning skills
  • Exercises discretion and sound judgment
  • Effectively set work goals, establish priorities, and efficient planning
  • Helpful, positive, can-do attitude
  • While having the discipline to be an independent contributor, must have the ability to work collaboratively, build strong relationships, and effectively leverage and manage them inside and outside the organization
  • Comfortable handling and digesting a large amount of real-time data
