Director of ECOMMERCE

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations and promotion of the DTC and B2B website to ensure significant and sustainable business growth. This is a key role that will partner with many departments — Sales, Marketing, Creative, Product, Warehouse, Web Development — to maximize traffic, conversion, retention, and revenue opportunities.


  • Lead research, strategy, plan and execution of e-commerce success and development.
  • Partner with Web Developer on resolving issues, app recommendations, user experience projects, and website development projects from inception to QA testing to implementation.
  • Research and implement new site features and functionalities (i.e. in-store pick up, virtual shopping, etc.)
  • Oversee SMS implementation, updates and execution.
  • Develop project schedules and budgets based on the business’s goals, scope of work, and available resources; compare options and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Oversee day-to-day ecommerce site operations, including the supervision of Ecommerce Associate(s) to ensure product photography, product pages, collection pages, marketing pages, and all other web content supports the marketing and product plan.
  • Collaborate with Creative Marketing Manager to provide input and direction for studio photography and creative photo shoots, and provide feedback on images to ensure they meet web needs and aesthetic standards.
  • Review daily performance of ecommerce to make real-time adjustments to optimize sales, traffic and conversion.
  • Closely follow industry trends and identify new opportunities based on the needs of the organization, prioritizing projects that create the most value and the best user experience.
  • Look for innovative ways to increase AOV, conversion and customer retention through product recommendations, up-sells, cross-sells, tagging, gift bundling, etc.
  • Lead transactional and post purchase trigger email strategy, development, and production.
  • Design templates and layouts for the website and work with designers to ensure all templates and design are consistent with branding guidelines.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to create and/or review all copy to ensure accuracy and consistency with branding and copy guidelines.
  • Design and implement all landing pages for marketing campaigns onsite.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive ecommerce analytics dashboard — ensure reporting supports the business needs and provides actionable insights for the organization; relay trends and insights to CEO and Creative Marketing Manager to inform strategy.
  • Regularly communicate and partner with Creative Marketing Manager to ensure the website is aligned with the marketing calendar and advise in the development of content to support growth strategy.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure customer touchpoints have consistent messaging across all channels and to improve user experience.
  • Process all website issue tickets to ensure problems are resolved in a timely manner, delegating to relevant ecommerce team members as necessary.
  • Provide strategic oversight on paid media and digital marketing campaigns (email, ads, social, etc) to ensure brand presence is consistent and aligned to ecom marketing efforts, and support content creation and design as needed.
  • Test and make recommendations for new tools, platforms, trends and integrations to keep organization and website current and up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Manage existing Shopify Apps and make recommendations for future Apps.
  • Optimize website and user flow, based on GA data, heat mapping tools, purchase history and AB testing.
  • Manage Amazon sellers account and program, and monitor orders and fees.
  • Oversee onboarding and integration with the Affiliate program, working closely with the Marketing Department to ensure success and troubleshooting any issues.
  • Partner with Customer Service and Warehouse employees to set a high bar for customer experience — processing time, order resolution, response rates, website updates, and customer service responses.
  • Work as a mentor and trainer to e-commerce associate(s) and/or customer service associate and manage workloads/tasks.
  • Minimum requirement of assisting the warehouse team 3 days per year with miscellaneous warehouse tasks and order fulfillment, including transporting product as needed.


  • 5-7 years of relevant management experience in e-commerce, marketing, or other related field, and experience managing teams and working with outside agencies
  • Must have 5+ years experience with Shopify or Shopify Plus, and WordPress
  • Must have expertise in HTML and CSS
  • Must possess UX/UI expertise
  • Experience with inventory management systems, such as Quickcommerce, is a plus
  • Ability to effectively communicate with backend developers in order to properly execute web builds
  • Ability to project manage across varied team sizes and disciplines
  • Knowledge in email marketing strategies (drip campaigns, automation, segmentation, etc) and ability to execute within ESPs such as Mailchimp and Klaviyo
  • Must have direct to consumer ecommerce experience, with B2B and omnichannel experience preferred
  • Be data driven, analyze data quantitatively and qualitatively and use customer research, data and metrics to back up assumptions and identify opportunities
  • Hands-on experience and technical proficiency with, web analytics tools such as Google Analytics
  • Strong leadership/Management skills — can help train junior associates and work as a mentor
  • Understanding of how user funnels work, what KPIs matter and how to impact them
  • Solid understanding of performance marketing activities, such as SEO, email, social, retention, etc.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Comfortable handling and digesting a large amount of real-time data
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills along
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in data manipulation, analysis and basic modeling techniques
  • Strong organization and planning skills – able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • A high degree of professionalism, ethics, passion, industriousness, creativity, and a can-do attitude
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced and energetic environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
  • Helpful and positive attitude toward customers and employees
  • Flexible work schedule (i.e. nights, weekends, and holidays as needed)
  • Willing to travel to our Santa Ana Office location once per week
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
