Director of Marketing

The Director of Marketing will own and develop a strategic vision for the department that reaches new customers and deepens relationships with existing customers and that connects all marketing activities to The Little Market’s goals and values.

The Director will deeply understand The Little Market’s audience and oversee strategic marketing and branding, social media and design to create compelling and persuasive content to make The Little Market the go to brand for Fair Trade home decor, accessories and gifts, and support the development of media strategies.

Responsibilites

Marketing Vision, Strategy Setting and Execution

  • Develop/refine marketing vision and strategy based on deep understanding of The Little Market’s goal of empowering women by giving them access to our ecommerce platform and market
  • Continually review the market, customer trends and competitors and use that information to inform strategy and execution
  • Develop and continually strengthen tools to guide the marketing team’s work, such as customer journey mapping, project planning frameworks, and reporting dashboards
  • Ensure that the entire org understands the vision and direction of The Little Market’s positioning, messaging, and marketing strategy; regularly communicate and reinforce that strategy across teams
  • Working across all departments to support marketing

Team Management

  • Lead the marketing team with an outcomes orientation
  • Manage and coach marketing team members to goals, outcomes, and growth opportunities
  • Serve as a bridge across the organization to help break silos and develop an inclusive culture
  • Continually strengthen the marketing team’s internal processes for strategic planning, communication, implementation, and analysis

Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring

  • Set data-informed goals for the team and members and manage to them
  • Build key performance indicators and report on effectiveness of marketing campaigns
  • Share progress of marketing efforts with TLM teams to inform their work

Leadership Contributions

  • Serve as a key thought partner and strategic advisor to the CEO
  • Be a leading voice to represent the needs and perspectives of members in org- and team-level planning and product/experience development

Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience
  • 10+ years relevant professional experience in marketing, digital communications, branding, or similar
  • Demonstrated success as a data-driven digital marketing leader possessing vision, imagination, and deep empathy
  • Demonstrated experience working with leaders across other departments to launch cross-functional initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience building, developing, and managing a high performing team
  • Deep passion for The Little Market’s vision
  • Excellent personal organization, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion
