economic opportunities

Basha’s high-quality, one-of-a-kind kantha quilts are handmade by strong women in Bangladesh, many of whom have survived sex trafficking. Kantha embroidery has been practiced for centuries. Repurposed vintage saris are given a new life in the form of quilts and other textile products. Basha provides weekly training including literacy and life skills programs. The artisans also receive medical support, counseling, and daycare assistance.

Because of my job at Basha, my life has changed. Now I can pay house rent and send my second child to school. ... I am proud of myself. I am earning for my family. I do not need to be dependent on others. I can provide for my family. I hope to continue my work as long as I live.
