You will work as part of a small team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. All positions are based in Santa Monica, CA unless otherwise specified.

 



Translator Internship


Irvine, CA



INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

We have internship openings throughout the year, and we accept applications on a rolling basis. The Little Market is looking for highly motivated, multilingual individuals interested in gaining experience in communication facilitation through translation and live interpretation. Working with a small team in a fast-paced environment, interns will build skills in effective communication with people with limited English proficiency, as well as learn more about fair trade practices and international development issues.

The internship will primarily focus on: acting as official translator/interpreter to facilitate discussions during meetings, phone calls and via written communication. Providing strict renditions of the messages, employing clear enunciation, pronunciation and polite forms of expressions. Upholding the correct rules for grammar and syntax in both languages. Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.

Interns are asked to commit up to fifteen hours a week, for a minimum of three months. The start date and schedule are flexible. This internship is paid and open only to current students.

This internship is based out of Irvine, California. The intern will report directly to our Artisan Liaison and work closely with our Product Development Coordinator.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should be fluent in both English and one of the languages listed below. Applicants must also be well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable with a strong appreciation for cultural diversity. Please note the following requirements: written and verbal proficiency in both English and a foreign language, computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, internet applications) and familiarity with social media.

Experience and/or interest in fair trade and international development are preferred. The intern must be an enrolled student for the duration of the internship term. Please list any relevant linguistic experience on your resume.

Graphic Design Internship


Santa Monica, CA



INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

The Little Market is looking for a highly motivated, creative individual who is interested in gaining experience in digital marketing and graphic design. Working with a small team in a fast-paced environment, interns will build skills in digital marketing, web design, communications, and graphic design, as well as learn more about fair trade practices and international development issues.

The internship will primarily focus on: designing and developing high-quality, engaging graphic communications for print and digital channels; creating new content for website and blog; organizing and editing photo; and collaborating on e-newsletters and email marketing campaigns.

Interns are asked to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week spread over two to three weekdays for a minimum of three months. The start date is flexible.

This internship is unpaid and open only to students seeking academic credit for an internship. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements prior to applying for the internship. This Internship is based out of Santa Monica, California. The intern will report directly to our Graphic Designer and also work closely with our marketing team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should be well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable with a strong interest in graphic design. Please note the following requirements: proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, internet applications) and familiarity with social media.

Experience and/or interest in fair trade and international development are preferred. The intern must be an enrolled student for the duration of the internship term. Please list any relevant design experience on your resume.

Marketing Internship

The internship will primarily focus on: supporting social media promotions and campaigns; updating blog content and selecting images; reviewing and creating content for website, including updating pages, developing product descriptions and editing photos; collecting and analyzing market data; monitoring press mentions; drafting e-newsletters.
