The Little Market is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports artisans and producers in underserved communities around the world. Our mission is anchored in the fundamental belief that every person has the right to dignified work and fair wages. We focus on connecting wholesalers and buyers interested in handcrafted products with artisan groups. Through our website, we celebrate the skills and cultural techniques of artisans and provide educational information about fair trade, human rights, and social justice issues.
our journey
how it started
The Little Market was co-founded by Hannah Skvarla and Lauren Conrad and started as an online fair trade shop in 2013. Since then, the organization has ethically sourced fair trade, artisan-made goods from over 35 countries and made them available to customers through its website. From 2018 to 2023, The Little Market also operated a brick-and-mortar store in the Pacific Palisades, California. In 2023, the organization transitioned its model to focus on connecting wholesalers and buyers with artisan and producer groups.

In addition to connecting buyers with artisan and producer groups around the world, we also continue to raise awareness about fair trade and human rights. While we are no longer offering pieces directly to shoppers on our website, our charitable mission remains the same: to support artisans in underserved communities.
Throughout the years, The Little Market has connected with over 100 artisan and producer groups globally. We are proud to have generated over 1.6 million hours of dignified work for these groups. We are honored to have collaborated on many beautiful products and highlight the makers behind them on this portal. We invite you to explore the stories of the artisan and producer groups we have had the opportunity to work with, read about fair trade practices, and learn about time-honored cultural techniques.
