Technique: Metalworking

Metalworkers at Tara Projects use recycled brass to create utensils and decorative vessels by hand. They preserve a traditional technique that has been passed down across generations. First, artisans cut a raw metal sheet into a circle, which is then heated to form a mold based on the size and shape of the desired piece. A turning machine reheats, smooths, and polishes the piece to completion, which is finally electroplated for durability.
