Banana Fiber Placemat

$ 24.00

HANDMADE IN UGANDA

This placemat will complete every table setting, for gatherings or everyday meals. Working with a community-based nonprofit organization, artisans sustainably source banana fiber and transform it into timeless pieces.

Talented artisans in Uganda, many of whom are women who have experienced vulnerable circumstances, made this piece by hand while preserving hand-looming and weaving techniques. They earn fair, dignified wages, have access to personal and professional development programs, and play an active role in decision-making and leadership positions.
