HANDMADE IN BANGLADESH

The Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) is a nonprofit organization committed to expanding the reach of dance and theater arts with the hope of enriching, inspiring, and transforming the lives of its students. The founding principles of DADA are based on the belief that arts education defines discipline, creativity, and self-confidence. These principles empower individuals, whether they pursue a professional performing arts career or not. This is for LIFE. From Shondaland, the Netflix documentary film “Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” spotlights the career of award-winning entertainer Debbie Allen and follows her group of young dancers as they prepare for Allen’s annual “Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” production.

We are grateful to collaborate with the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and Shondaland and support access to essential dance, theater, and skill development opportunities for young people. For every order in our special edition tote, The Little Market will donate $7 to the Debbie Allen Dance Academy.

CORR - The Jute Works empowers women in Bangladesh through handicraft production. The skilled women, many of whom previously did not have access to a formal education, make beautiful products. CORR - The Jute Works not only creates market access, but also provides job training and develops leadership skills. They use sustainable jute fabric and canvas to sew a variety of totes in our collection. The production process varies based on the size of the goods the artisans are creating as well as the complexity. This traditional technique has been followed for thousands of years while being passed down through different generations of women.
