MEET THE ARTISAN
BASHA
Located in: Bangladesh
Women at Basha create one-of-a-kind kantha quilts from repurposed cotton saris. These women, many of whom are at-risk and survivors of human sex trafficking, are resilient artisans that preserve a hand-stitching technique. They complete a training and rehabilitation program prior to beginning work. Basha provides training, including literacy and life skills programs. The artisans also receive medical support, counseling, and day care assistance for their children.
