Every box comes stamped with the story of how it is made.This box is handmade from repurposed cotton textiles that were discarded from the garment industry and would otherwise be sent to a landfill, and it is naturally dyed with beautiful blush colors from sappan wood, abundantly grown in Southern India.
Each purchase empowers innovative artisans in India practicing a traditional and eco-conscious papermaking technique while earning fair, dignified wages.
These boxes are hand-dyed using natural dyes. As a result of their handcrafted nature, box colors will vary.

CRAFT BOAT
Located in: India
Social enterprise Craft Boat works with artisans who recycle discarded cotton textiles from the garment industry to create innovative products. The technique of handmade papermaking has been passed down through generations in India. The quality and the texture of the materials set them apart and make them incredibly special. The cotton is sent to papermaking workshops in Sanganer, a town in Jaipur, and is then converted into 100 percent cotton paper. The textile scraps are assorted and recycled into a paper pulp, which is then transformed into sheets of cotton paper to develop sustainable products. To create our collection of gift accessories including journals, boxes, tags, and stationery sets, artisans carefully create paper and preserve stitching and natural dyeing techniques, based on the desired color. It takes approximately one to three hours to make the piece.
