This piece is woven by artisans in Madagascar, the majority of whom are women who have not previously had access to a formal education. They practice time-honored weaving, crocheting, and braiding techniques with locally sourced materials. Artisans earn fair wages, support their families and their children’s schooling, and further develop their skills.
