Women at MADE by DWC, the social enterprise component of the Downtown Women's Center, create small batches of hand-poured soap. They practice an intricate melt-and-pour soapmaking technique through a collaborative and empowering process. To begin, they melt high-quality ingredients such as vitamin E, mango butter, and coconut oil. After blending the ingredients, each soap is carefully poured into a mold. The bars of soap slowly form over a few hours and are then ready to be packaged. With a commitment to eco-conscious practices, the women repurpose pages from donated books and places the final touches on the packaging.
